Citywire, the specialized publication, recognized the excellent work of both MAPFRE's mutual fund managers and its financial advisors. As for the first group, five managers from MAPFRE AM, the insurance Group's asset manager, have achieved the coveted ranking from Citywire, whose fund management rankings are highly regarded internationally. Luis García has procured the + rating for managing the MAPFRE Am Behavioral fund; Thomas Nugent has procured the same rating for Fondmapfre Bolsa Europa FI, Fondmapfre Renta Mixto FI, MAPFRE AM European Equities, and MAPFRE AM Good Governance. Beatriz Ranea was also awarded the + rating for managing Fondmapfre Elección Moderada FI, Fondmapfre Renta Mixto FI, and Fondmapfre Rentadólar FI.

One rank ahead, with an A rating, is David Iturralde for managing four funds: Fondmapfre Renta Corto FI, Fondmapfre Renta Fija Flexible FI, Fondmapfre Renta Mixto FI, and MAPFRE AM Capital Responsable. On the highest rung, with an AA rating, is Daniel Gómez for managing MAPFRE Fondtesoro Plus FI and Fondmapfre Renta Fija Flexible FI.

For almost 20 years, Citywire has been rating the track records of more than 16,000 fund managers worldwide. They are present in 64 countries and in more than 280 investment sectors. The performance of each professional is analyzed using a methodology approved by AKG, an independent actuary, and is based on monthly data for the last three years. The review covers the entire market, which means that all managers are eligible for this recognition.

Achieving a Citywire rating represents a milestone, as less than 25% of fund managers reviewed will achieve it. Four ratings are assigned: +, A, AA, and AAA, which is the highest.

MAPFRE Gestión Patrimonial (MGP), finalist in the Private Banking Awards

It is competing for two of the nine corporate awards: best investment proposal and agent network of the year.

In parallel, four MGP colleagues are competing for individual awards. Lluis Saltó Jordana and Andrea Rico Cabrera are finalists in the categories of best banker of the year and best banker of the east. Cristian Herrezuelo and Antonio Jiménez Colilla are competing for the title of promising banker of the year. Winners will be announced on November 3.

High volatility in stock markets: why it happens and how to act

In recent weeks, international markets have faced their most challenging period since 2020. In a situation marked by surging volatility, emotions like fear take center stage in the minds of many investors, and market movements shift from linear to exponential. Such situations, although not frequent, do tend to recur periodically, and it’s important not to get swept up in the negative atmosphere or act impulsively with a short-term mindset, as the experts at MAPFRE remind us.

The US dollar’s role as the world’s reserve currency, historically underpinned by institutional credibility, financial depth, and trade dominance, is now facing mounting structural challenges that go beyond short-term economic fluctuations.

The tariff war shakes the global economy and casts doubt on U.S. debt

The tariffs are a problem that’s marking a major shift in the economic relationships we've built and developed over the past few decades. The U.S. President is using them as a tool to bring manufacturing back home and, in turn, boost government revenue through both direct and indirect taxation. But the ends don't always justify the means, and in pursuing these goals, the U.S. is now facing slower economic growth and rising inflation.
